Dear Ms. Pennington:
I am in receipt of your letter dated September 16, 1996, regarding your request for
funding by the City of Ocoee for Ocoee Middle School's Odyssey of the Mind Program.
Since there are only two weeks left in our current budget year, it would be
appropriate to request these funds out of our new fiscal year, which begins on October 1,
1996.
To this end, I would suggest that this be placed on the October 2 City Commission
Agenda under Presentations. Presentations begin at 7:30 p.m., and if you intend to be
there, please confirm your attendance with my secretary.

Dear Mr. Shapiro:
in reference to my request at the April 16, 1996 Ocoee City Commission meeting regarding
Ocoee Middle School's Odyssey of the Mind program, 1 would like to clarify the registration
requirements. Total national, state and team registration fees are $345.00, which serves 35
students on five different category teams. Our OMS goal this year is for 15 teams which will
serve 105 students. IBM Corporation has donated $250 for our Odyssey program, which is
only $95 short of the cost of one school registration.
if the City of Ocoee could budget two school registrations plus the $95 shortfall from the IBM
donation then our 1996-97 Odyssey of the Mind goal will be met. The total of this request is
$785.
Please be assured that we would be most appreciative of my support the City can give us at this
time. Let me assure you that this is an investment in the community which will exceed any
dividends earned from the highest interest.
