RE: PURCHASE OF SENSES METERS
The Water Department has submitted a requisition for the acquisition of 360 meters
which are produced by a company named Sensus Technologies, Inc. of Dallas, Texas.
The quantities requested represent what the Water Department feels it will need for this
Fiscal Year. I have attached both a letter from Sensus Technologies, Inc. indicating that
they are a Sole Source vendor and a memorandum from James W. Shira, P.E.. City
Engineer/Utilities Director explaining the reason for the acquisition of the Sensus
Technologies. Inc. meters. he memorandum from Mr. Shira requests that if I knew of
any compatible meters from other vendors to submit those specifications for his review. I
am unaware of any compatible meters at this time. Based on the letter from Sensus
Technologies, Inc. and the memorandum from Mr. Shira, I am satisfied that the criteria
for a Sole Source vendor has been met. The dollar amount for the 360 meters is
$25,681.60. All purchases over $10,000.00 require approval from the City Commission
before a purchase can be made.
ACTION REQUESTED
The I lonorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners authorize purchase of 360
meters from Sensus Technologies, Inc. in the amount of$25,681.60.

SUBJECT: Water Meters
We have requested that a blanket purchase order be issued to Sensus Corp. for water meters of
various sizes.
Our hand-held meter reading data entry devices, the Touch-Read devices and the computer
software are all Sensus or Sensus compatible.
I am not aware of another manufacturer producing a meter that is compatible with this equipment
and software. If you know of any, 1 will be glad to review the specifications they provide to you.
In the absence of another manufacturer, I believe a blanket purchase order for Sensus meters is
warranted.
