RE: Resurfacing of Bluford Avenue

Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve leveling and resurfacing of
Bluford Avenue from north of City Hall driveway to McKey Street; authorize$18,800 from
General Fund Contingency for the project, and authorize Ranger Construction Industries, Inc. to
perform the work?
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION:
During the March 2, 2004 City Commission meeting, staff was instructed to evaluate the
feasibility of resurfacing Bulford Avenue, from north of City Hall driveway to Oakland Avenue.
In order to accurately assess the conditions, a joint site review was conducted by staff and the
contractor. Based on the field assessment, the limits of the work were adjusted to begin at the
Ocoee Plaza driveway and continue to McKey Street, an approximate distance of 1,100'.
Ranger Construction Industries, Inc., based on Orange County contract provided a quote for the
work at$18,800 to level and resurface the pavement. As this project was not budgeted for
fiscal year 2003-04, a transfer of$18,800 from General Fund Contingency is required.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff respectfully requests the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve resurfacing of
Bluford Avenue; authorize expenditure and transfer of$18,800 from General Fund Contingency
for the project; and authorize Ranger Construction Industries, Inc. to perform the work.
