RE: B02-05, Custodial Services
ISSUE
Should the City Commission select an outside contractor to perform custodial services for the
City or elect to perform these services in-house?
BACKGROUND & DISCUSSION:
The City contracted with a custodial services company in November, 1999 for the amount of
$45,600.00. The contract was cancelled and the services were re-bid and awarded in October,
2000. This contract was cancelled in February, 2002 and the contract amount was $42,177.00.
The carpet-cleaning portion of the bid was removed, and Bid #B02-05 was advertised on
February 10, 2002, and publicly opened on March 6, 2002. Responses were received from the
following bidders:
1) Total Service & Trade Corp. $46,293.00
2) Shining Star Services $59,211.00
3) City of Ocoee Public Works/ $50,186.00
Facilities Maintenance Dept.
Attached are copies of all bids received along with the bid tabulation sheet. A bid analysis
sheet, prepared by the Finance Department, is attached for your review.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
It respectfully is recommended that the City Commission provide Staff direction as to the a and
of Bid #B02-05. If an outside contractor is selected, authorize execution of an agree -nt
between the City and the selected contractor by the Mayor and City Clerk and further author•e
the Mayor, City Clerk and Staff to execute all documents necessary to consummate
transaction contemplated by the agreement.
