II(B) Proclamation ''United States Army Day'' 1 Agenda 6-18-20U2 ItemIIB lg g sri:t1a : r r WHEREAS, the U.S Army has proudly defended this nation's interests around the world; and WHEREAS, Floridians have fought bravely in all the nation's wars from the Revolutionary War, the Persian Gulf War and continue to make this state proud by serving in peacekeeping missions around the world as well as our War Against Terror; and WHEREAS, the regular Army, U.S. Army Reserve and Florida National Guard have all provided many Floridians with vocational and educational opportunities as well as valuable life lessons in courage, discipline and teamwork; and WHEREAS, today's Army still offers Floridians from all walks of life opportunities to serve their state and nation proudly while bettering themselves and their families; and WHEREAS, this-year the Army celebrates their 227th birthday, honoring all those that • have served or are currently in the Unites States Army. '` NOW,THEREFORE, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby proclaim June 14, 2002. as • . "UNITED STATES ARMY DAY" • in the City of Ocoee and ask all citizens to come together and recognize the contributions that _ the men and women of the Unites States Army have made toward our freedom and our way of life.
