"Doc" Pounds Agenda 12-10-2002 Item II B ,the Center of Good/� °CORE., Proclamation Whereas, there arc few people who can claim to be a second generation Ocoeean; and Whereas, Edwin Harvey Pounds (better known to us all as"Doc") is one of those few; and Whereas, Doc Pounds was educated locally, served his country gallantly in the Anny Air Force, then graduated from the University of Florida before coming back home to live; and Whereas, the finest tribute a young person can pay to his hometown after he gets his education and serves his country is to come back home and help others; and Whereas, Doc Pounds used his education and experience to make life easier for others, taking an active part in civic organizations and business ventures; and Whereas, Doc Pounds served on the City Council for seven terms beginning in 1950 to 1960 and then 1962 to 1966. Now,Therefore, we, the elected officials of the City of Ocoee, do hereby declare and proclaim our pride and pleasure in having a citizen in our City we can look up to and honor as we do Doe Pounds.
