RE: Capital Outlay Purchase
ISSUE
The Life Fitness LC8500 Upright Lifecycle Exercise Equipment at the Beech Recreation Center,
which is used on a daily basis by a large number of individuals in the Exercise Room, needs to
be replaced.
The Life Fitness LC8500 is out of service at this time, and a new computer console needs to be
installed for the machine to work properly.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Staff has received prices on repairing the existing equipment and the prices came in at $103255
just to replace the computer console. Staff also received prices for replacing the existing
equipment to insure there are no other problems with the equipment in the future.
Staff received a quote for a new Life Fitness LC8500 and the quote was $1780.00 from Precision
Fitness Equipment, who is a sole source provider. This is the same vendor the City used when it
bought and installed the exercise equipment at the Beech Center when it opened.
Funds for this purchased are available in the Parks and Recreation Department's Small
Equipment Account (001-572-00-5230).
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Commission allow the transfer of$1780.00 from the
Department's Small Equipment Account (001-572-00-5230)into it's Capital Outlay Account
(001-572-00-6400) to purchase this piece of equipment.
