Proclamation
WHEREAS, fighting fires is one of the most hazardous professions,requiring physical strength
stamina,extensive training,courage,and selfless concern for the welfare of our
citizens;and
WHEREAS, in addition to their daily service to communities fire fighters throughout the slate
and across the nation have joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association for the past
forty-five years in the fight against neuromhscular diseases;and
WHEREAS, Florida lire fighters collected$1,336,750 in over 300 communities with their2002
'Fill the Boot'campaign for MBA, again making them MDA's largest source of
funding;and
WHEREAS, the Muscular Dystrophy Association is extremely grateful to the Ocoee fire
fighters for their support and dedication; and
WHEREAS, the funds collected by the Ocoee fire fighters assist MBA in providing medical
services at local clinics,summer camp.research grants,support groups.and public
education seminars at no cost to local children and litmifics:and
WHEREAS, in honor of the efforts of the Ocoee fire fighters, the Muscular Dystrophy is
sponsoring Ocoee Fire Fighter Appreciation week;and
WHEREAS. it is appropriate for all Ocoee citizens to loin Muscular Dystrophy Association in
their tribute to our firefighters_
NOW,, THEREFORE, I, S. Scott Vandergri ft, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, do hereby proclaim
