SUBJECT: Name Change Request for
McElroy Place Subdivision
ISSUE:
Should the Mayor and City Commissioners approve a request to change the name of the
McElroy Place subdivision to"Kensington Manor"?
BACKGROUND:
The McElroy Place subdivision is located on the south side of McCormick Road, at the northern
edge of the City. The Preliminary Subdivision Plan and Final Subdivision Plan have been
approved with the name "McElroy Place". The Code requires City Commission approval of a
subdivision name change.
DISCUSSION:
The original owner of the subject property has recently sold the property with the approved
plans to another developer. The project is now ready to begin construction and the new
owner/developer has requested that the name of the subdivision be changed to "Kensington
Manor" (see attached letter with name change request).
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
The Development Review Committee considered this proposed name change and after
discussion of how it would affect several record keeping issues, voted unanimously to
recommend approval of the request. Based on the recommendation of the DRC, Staff
respectfully recommends that the Mayor and City Commissioners approve the requested name
change to"Kensington Manor".
