RE: Initial Appointments to Citizen Advisory Council for Ocoee Fire Department
(3-year terms) (Members must be legal residents of the City or owners of real
property or businesses in Ocoee.)
ISSUE
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint members to the Citizen Advisory
Council for Ocoee Fire Department(CACOFD)?
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
On September 16, 2003, City Commission adopted Resolution No. 2003-20 establishing the
CACOFD and adopting By-Laws for the board. The Resolution provides that CACOFD
membership shall consist of no less than fifteen (15) members and no more than twenty-five (25)
members.
Six applications have been submitted listing this board as the first or only choice and they are
listed in the order received:

!have been a resident of Ocoee for 7 years and am interested in being a Part of this
advisory group. I am currently the Director of Workforce Development for the 13,000
member American Hotel&Lodging Association but more importantly,I spent 14 years
as an active class A,volunteer faefgMer(10 years In Long Island,NY and 4 years with
Orange County,FL).
During my 14 years of fire service,I was qualified as both engine and ladder company
and held the position as an Engineer. In addition I was a member of the rescue squad
and was certified by New York State as a Naz-Mat Tech. White in NY,I was on training
councils and committees designated with the responsibility of assessing,testing and
recommending new equipment and training for the department.
