B - Proclamation - National Public Works Week Proclamation .~e3leD, public works facilities and services provided in our community are an integral and essential part of our citizens' everyday lives; and .~e3leD, the support of an understanding and informed citizenry is vital to the efficient operation of public works systems and programs such as streets and highways, flood control, parks, water, sewers, public buildings, and solid waste collection and disposal; and .~e3leD, the health, sanitation, safety, and comfort of this community greatly depend on these facilities and services; and .~e3leD, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning, design and construction are vitally dependent upon the efforts and skill of public works officials; and .~e3leD, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel, who staff public works departments, is materially influenced by the people's attitude and understanding ofthe importance of the work they perform. .~e3leD, this year's theme "Public Works: Moving Life Forward", is a tribute to the many positive improvements public works employees have made to our communities; 1/cMe 7~, Therefore, I, S. Scott Vandergrift, Mayor of the City of Ocoee, hereby proclaim the week of May 20, 2007 through May 26, 2007 as NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK in the City of Ocoee, and call upon all citizens and civic organizations to acquaint themselves with the challenges involved in providing public works facilities and services and recognize the contributions that public works officials make every day to our health, safety, comfort, and quality oflife.
