Subject: Fire Station 38 Stand-by Generator.
Background Summary:
The Fire Department began occupying the new location for Fire Station 38 at the Vignetti Park site in
early 2020. The previous jacility in the Fountains West shopping center did not have a standby
generator, however, since moving into the facility, there has been discussion relating to the need for a
standby generator in case of power loss. The current Station 38 is a manufactured building and will not
be occupied during a declared storm event. Public Works has sized and solicited pricing for generators
that would meet the needs of the station should power be interrupted. The cost to install a new 30kW
generator is $25,810.00. This cost is not currently funded in the City Capital Improvements budget and
would need to be funded from Contingency Funds in the current fiscal year. Public Works is requesting
Commission direction on funding the generator in this fiscal year or to be incorporated in the next fiscal
year's budget.
Issue:
Request the City Commission direction on funding a standby generator for Fire Station 38.
Recommendations:
Recommend to approve the use of$25,810.00 from Contingency.Funds for the purchase of a standby
generator at Fire Station 38 or direct City Staff to incorporate the expenditure in the 2021/2022
budget.

Diesel Generator Proposal

SCOPES:
JFC Electric LLC, herein referred as Generac authorized dealer/ Electrical Contractor, will provide a 30 kW
diesel generator with approximate 96 hours run time at 1910 Adair Street to power the Fire Station building and
misc. warehouse thru the 200 Amp service.
1. Supply and install one 30 kW Generac model RD03022ADAL-Commercial series, Protector Diesel RD Series,30
kW, 2.2 liter engine, 120/240 10, 132 Gallon with 96 hour(1/2) load run time
2. Supply and install one automatic transfer switch RXSW200A3,service rated, 200 Amp rating, 120/240 10, NEMA
3R Enclosure
3. Make all generator/transfer switch electrical connections by licensed electrician
4. Start up and operating instructions of unit to customer
5. Perform warranty registration with manufacturer at completion
