Vberea0, 2022 marks the twenty fifth anniversary of Shepherd's Hope, which provides access to
quality healthcare in our community; and
Innen, it is fitting and proper to officially recognize the work that was started by a team of
clinical and non-clinical volunteers lead by Dr. William S. Barnes, then pastor of St.
Luke's United Methodist Church in Windermere; and
/POMO, the first Health Center opened at the West Side Tech Campus of Orange Technical
College on February 14, 1997; and
Whereass, Shepherd's Hope has grown to five medical health facilities in Orange and Seminole
Counties to serve underinsured neighbors facing medical crisis; and
mbereass, Shepherd's Hope built and opened its first purpose-built Health Center and central office
in Winter Garden in 2019; and
:'herea0, Volunteer physicians, nurses, other licensed healthcare professionals and general
volunteers continue to be the primary caregiving team at each facility, providing whole-
person care and free health services for children and adults; and
Whereao, Shepherd's Hope has provided over 330,000 free patient visits and medical services to
those in need in our community since 1997.
ath, Therefore, be it resolved that the City Commission of the City of Ocoee does hereby proclaim
2022 as the 25th Anniversary for SHEPHERD'S HOPE, for all of its work in our community and I urge
all citizens to join in celebrating this worthwhile organization.
