PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
REGULAR MEETING HELD ON September 20, 2021
I. CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:09 p.m. Recording Clerk Kim McMillin called
roll and declared a quorum present. "
PRESENT: Chair Rainer, Members Gordon and Sherrall Applegate, and Lomneck.
Also present: Commissioner Liaison Wilsen, Parks and Recreation Director Mark
Johnson, and Recording Clerk Kim McMillin.
ABSENT: Vice-Chair Stewart, Members Hassan and Graham. .
B. INTRODUCTION OF NEW MEMBER
IL NEW BUSINESS
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Member Sherrall Applegate seconded by Member Gordon Applegate,
made a motion to accept the minutes of the May 17, 2021 meeting. The
motions passed unanimously.
B. Updates on upcoming programs/events:
Leagues: Babe Ruth starts baseball for the next seven to eight months; GGS
finalized the agreement in August for the soccer fields; Pop Warner will have
games for the next five weekends. At the Jim Beech Center, twelve teams of
volleyball, and adult basketball, will take place o Monday nights. Youth basketball
league just finished their season.
Capital Projects: The final Budget meeting is September 22, 2021 for the items
to be approved. A Skate Park will be coming to Vandergrift Central Park. Artificial
turf will be installed in the Wedding Garden at Wither's Maguire House. New floors
will be installed at the Jim Beech Recreation Center Gym. Plans of moving the
fitness room to the Vignetti Center then re-locating the existing programs to Jim
Beech. A purchase of the Turf Tank will be finalized for the fields. There are plans
of the playground renovations.
Events:
Halloween Haunting Experience on October 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 with various
activities. Plans of live music events in the park will be coming soon. This year
the Holiday Parade is canceled. The Holiday Events/Tree Lighting with Santa and ,

Mrs. Claus and Breakfast will be on December 3, 4, and 11, 2021. More updates
will be given once determined.
C. Budget remaining: $300.58 for fiscal year 2020-2021. ,,
HighLIGHTing-Light Up Ocoee Signs and the dates to judge wereas voted for
December 8 and 13.. Member Lomneck seconded by Member Sherrall
Applegate, made a motion to purchase 50 signs with the budget not to exceed
$500.00. The motion passed unanimously.
III. SET NEXT AGENDA for the meeting being held on November 15, 2021.

B. Rules to call an emergency meeting if voting will take place
C. Events updates: Halloween, HighLIGHTing Ocoee, Tree Lighting, and the
