Item 05(b) Approval to Surplus City Property - Resolution to Declare Property Within the Existing City Hall as Surplus Property and Authorize the City Manager to Approve the Disposition of the Existing City Hall surplus PropertyContact Name: Contact Number: oco(>-e florldo AGENDA i 1516 Meeting Date: April 5, 2022 Tolbert Item # ,} Reviewed By: , m Department Director: Reb ca. Ro City Manager: Robert Fr . Subject: Approval of Resolution to Declare Property within the Existing City Hall as Surplus Property and Authorize the City Manager to Approve the Disposition of the Existing City Hall Surplus Property Background Summary: The City Charter and Purchasing Policy and Procedures state that the City Commission approves the declaration and disposal of Surplus Property, and the City Manager approves departmental transfers of Surplus Property. City staff recognizes the need for special surplus procedures for property located in the existing City Hall due to the volume of office furniture and appurtenances. To minimize the costs to the City for disposal of this surplus property, staff recommends this surplus property not be subject to the surplus procedures, and recommends the City Manager be authorized to approve the disposition of said property. Office furniture and appurtenances of value would be transferred between departments. Office furniture and appurtenances of an estimated minimal value of $50 or less, or at the end of its useful life would be disposed of by donating to Florida local governments, non -profits located within the City of Ocoee, and interested City employees. Any remaining office furniture or appurtenances not transferred or donated would either be added to a future surplus auction or destroyed dependent on estimated value. Issue: Should the City Commission approve the Resolution to Declare Property within the Existing City Hall as Surplus Property and Authorize the City Manager to Approve the Disposition of the Existing City Hall Surplus Property. Recommendations Staff recommends that the City Commission adopt the Resolution declaring the property within the existing City Hall as surplus property, and authorize the City Manager to approve the disposition of the existing City Hall surplus property. Attachments: 1. Proposed Resolution Financial Impact: This action would minimize the costs to the City for the disposal of surplus property within the existing City Hall.
