Special Meeting Held on August 11, 2021
CALL TO ORDER:
Chairperson Garone called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM, in the Commission Chambers of
Ocoee City Hall, located at 150 N. Lakeshore Drive in Ocoee, FL.
Chairperson Garone led the Pledge of Allegiance; a moment of silence followed. Recording
Clerk Serrano called roll and determined a quorum present.
Present: Chairperson Garone, and Members Lewis, Braunskill, Griner, and Moyer
Absent: Members Ball, Mann, Brown, Meeks, Holt, and Hart
Also present: Commissioner Brinson, Police Chief Plasencia, Sgt. Prince, and
Recording Clerk Serrano
DISCUSS DETAILS OF THE 9/11 MEMORIAL EVENT
Chairperson Garone updated the Board on final details for the stage and delivery. Sgt. Prince
asked Chairperson Garone to confirm the stage dimensions, and advised that the stage should be
no bigger than 12ft x 8ft.
Member Lewis made a motion to spend$30.00 for water; seconded by Member Braunskill. The
motion carried unanimously.
Member Mover made a motion for the board to extend invitations to local elected officials;
seconded by Member Braunskill. The motion carried unanimously.
Member Mover made a motion for the board to coordinate with Community Relations Manager
Joy Wright to invite local elected officials and generate a press release for the 9/11 Memorial
Event; seconded by Member Griner. The motion carried unanimously.
QUARTERLY AWARD NOMINATIONS
Chairperson Garone opened the discussion and the Board reviewed the nominations.
Member Lewis made a motion for nomination #2 to be awarded Officer of the Quarter;
seconded by Member Braunskill. The motion carried unanimously.
Chairperson Garone informed the board that only one Civilian of the Quarter nomination was
received; Administrative Assistant Madeleine Garza will be awarded Civilian of the Quarter.
Member Griner made a motion to meet on November 11, 2021, or November 18, 2021; seconded
by Member Lewis. The motion carried unanimously.
