MAY IS NATIONAL WATER SAFETY MONTH!
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, The citizens of the City of Ocoee recognize the vital role that swimming and
aquatic -related activities play in our physical and mental well-being; and
WHEREAS, Water safety education plays an essential role in the prevention of
drowning and recreational water -related injuries; and
WHEREAS, The recreational water industry has made many significant contributions
as represented by the organizations involvement in the National Water
Safety Month Coalition towards the development of safe swimming
facilities, aquatic programs, home pools and related activities; and
WHEREAS, There are ongoing efforts and commitments within Ocoee to educate the
public on water safety issues and initiatives, by the pool, spa, water park,
recreation and parks industries; and
WHEREAS, Communicating water safety rules and programs to families and individuals
of all ages is vital.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Commission of the City of Ocoee, does hereby declare
the month of May 2022, as
NATIONAL. WATER SAFETY MONTH
FURTHER, we encourage all parents within the community to ensure their children have
received swimming lessons by the age of five, or have taken water safety lessons that will
keep their children safe when near water sources.
