Background Summary:
The Code Enforcement Board (CEB) was created by Ordinance No. 741 on June 16, 1981, with the
most recent revision by Ordinance 2017-005 on January 17, 2017. The purpose of this Board is to
review residential property infractions of the City Technical Codes, negotiate compliance and impose
fines for failure to comply. The Code Enforcement Board is to have a Board Attorney, seven (7)
regular members and two (2) alternate members with a three-year term. Currently, the Board has five
(5) regular members and zero (0) alternate members.
When possible, equal representation for all districts shall be maintained on all advisory boards, and
the City Commission shall consider the demographic makeup of the board upon making their
appointment. The graph below illustrates the current district makeup of the CEB.

An application has been received by Laini Schultz (District 2) who has shown an interest in being
appointed to the Code Enforcement Board as a regular member for a term ending June 2025. At this
time there are no other applications on file for this board.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners consider appointing Laini Schultz to serve as a
regular member on the Code Enforcement Board for a three-year term?
Recommendations:
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners consider appointing Laini
Schultz to the Code Enforcement Board to serve as a regular member for a term ending June 2025.
