Background Summary:
In this fiscal year's budget, subsequent to the purchase of the approved number of vehicles, there remains a
residual amount of $88,720.07, which is a combined result of negotiation and modification of originally
selected equipment that had better value from the projected approved costs and the current approved budget.
The Police Department has a responsibility to maintain a working fleet in a state of operational readiness and
has a need for pickup truck-type vehicles. However, due to continuing pandemic-related delays, the Police
Department is experiencing long lead times (months, in some cases) in obtaining delivery of already-ordered
vehicles. To avoid unnecessary delays, the additional potential purchase would be made from existing dealer
inventory and not pre-ordered.
Staff was able to locate two Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks that would meet the needs of the Police
Department from Duval Chevrolet (Florida Sheriffs Association Contract), and Alan Jay Chevrolet (Sourcewell
Contract). Both of these vendors have an existing relationship with the City. Staff is seeking authorization from
the Commission to acquire two Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks as described in the attached quotes from in-
stock vehicles with the residual from our vehicle budget not to exceed the remaining balance.
