Special Session Held Aug 25, 2022
CALL TO ORDER
Chairperson Vaughn called the meeting to order at 6:01 PM, in the Station 25 Training Room, located at
563 S. Bluford Avenue, Ocoee.
Chairperson Vaughn led the Pledge of Allegiance; a moment of silence followed. Recording Clerk
Serrano performed roll call and declared a quorum present.
Present: Chairperson Vaughn, Members Channell, Richardson and Legvold.
Also Present: Commissioner Firstner, Fire Marshall Soreneson and Recording Clerk Serrano
Guests: Rick Kepler and Jim Moyer
DISCERNMENT OF THE CACOFD 2022 BUDGET FUNDS
Fire Marshall Sorenson addressed the board and discussed the upcoming Operation Santa, he explained
to the board that this annual event spans several dates in November and December and is a joint venture
with the police department and directly benefits the Ocoee community. FM Sorenson furthered that in
addition to purchasing the candy that is thrown on the route, the department maintains and stores the float
throughout the year.
Discussion among the board ensued.
Commissioner Firstner addressed the board, stating that in the new budget year he would donate money
from his discretionary funds towards Operation Santa. He invites FM Marshall to address the
commission as a whole in regards to the event.
Member Channell made a inotion that the board contribute $1000.00 to the Operation Santa event
seconded by Member Legvold. The motion carried unanimously
Chairperson Vaughn opened the discussion of board shirts. Recording Clerk Serrano informed the
board that goods must be purchased and received prior to the end of the fiscal year on October 1, 2022.
Member Legvold made a motion that the board use up to $457.00 towards the purchase of new shirts
seconded by Member Channell. The motion carried unanimously.
