Subject: Approval to Transfer Funds within the Parks and Recreation Capital Budget for the
Purpose of Installing a Pedestrian Entrance at the Ocoee Skatepark. (Parks and Recreation

Background Summary:
In Fiscal Year 21/22 and 22/23 of the Parks and Recreation Capital Budget, the department budgeted the City
of Ocoee’s first skatepark at a total of $500,000. The project is currently under construction at Vandergrift
Central Park. The Parks and Recreation Department will need to install an entrance to the park for pedestrian
access that is outside the project scope. The proposal received for the entrance exceeds the remaining funds
that were available for the Ocoee Skatepark project.
The Sorenson Concession & Restroom project (FY 19/20) was budgeted for a new concession and restroom
separate from the building currently there. Due to limited space for a new restroom and concession, the Parks
and Recreation Department saved costs by planning to remodel the current concession and restroom at
Sorenson Park.
The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting approval to transfer funds in the amount of $28,000 from
the Sorenson Concession Stand & Restroom project currently funded in the Fiscal Year 19/20 Capital Budget
(Acct. #317-572-10-6302), and utilize those funds for the installation of the pedestrian entrance to the new
Ocoee Skatepark. .
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners approve the Parks and Recreation Department to
transfer funds in the amount of $28,000 from the Sorenson Concession Stand & Restroom project currently
funded in the FY 19/20 Capital Budget (Acct. # 317-572-10-6302), and utilize those funds for the installation of
the pedestrian entrance to the new Ocoee Skatepark?
Recommendations:
The Parks and Recreation Department recommends the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners authorize
the transfer of funds in the amount of $28,000 from the Sorenson Concession Stand & Restroom project
currently funded in the FY 19/20 Capital Budget (Acct. # 317-572-10-6302), and utilize those funds for the
installation of the pedestrian entrance to the new Ocoee Skatepark
