Background Summary:
The City of Ocoee Third Annual Safety Spring Fling will be held Saturday, April 5, 2008 from lOAM to 3PM at
the City Municipal Complex. In order in help ensure a safe event, the organizers are requesting the closure of the
City boat ramp between the hours of midnight and 4PM and the closure of the driveway between the boat ramp
and City Hall's west parking lot, Oakland A venue between Bluford Avenue and Lakeshore Drive, and Lakeshore
Drive between the boat ramp and Oakland Avenue between the hours of9AM and 4PM.

Recommendations
It is recommended that the Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners approve the closure of the City
boat ramp between the hours of midnight and 4PM and the closure of the driveway between the boat ramp and
City Hall's west parking lot, Oakland Avenue between Bluford A venue and Lakeshore Drive, and Lakeshore
Drive between the boat ramp and Oakland Avenue between the hours of9AM and 4PM on April 5, 2008 for the
City of Ocoee Third Annual Safety Spring Fling.

Third Annual Safety Spring Fling?
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The City of Ocoee Child Protection Recommendation Committee held its Second Annual Safety Spring Fling in
March of 2007 at the City Municipal Complex. Approximately 500 people participated. The City of Ocoee
Third Annual Safety Spring Fling will be held Saturday, April 5,2008 at the City Municipal Complex. In order
in help ensure a safe event, the organizers are requesting: 1) the closure of the City boat ramp between the hours
of midnight and 4PM; 2) the closure ofthe driveway between the boat ramp and City Hall's west parking lot
between the hours of9AM and 4PM; 3) the closure of Oakland Avenue between Bluford Avenue and Lakeshore
Drive between the hours of9AM and 4PM; and 4) the closure of Lakeshore Drive between the boat ramp and
Oakland Avenue between the hours of9AM and 4PM.
Community sponsors, citizen volunteers, neighboring agencies, and employees from a variety of City of Ocoee
departments are providing the required resources and staffing at minimal costs.
Event staff and the City's Lakeshore Improvement Phase II project manager have met and determined that the
event and construction project will have minimal impact on each other and that the road closures will have
minimal impact on the area. Event staff will assist effected residents with access and egress from their houses.
Because the ongoing construction in the area will have an effect on the immediate area and space will be at a
premium, it is requested the boat ramp be closed during the event this year.
