PZ 03-26-1974 MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD HELD
MARCH 26, 1974
Members Present: Bowness, Brooklyn, McRobert, Turner and Lait.
Members Absents Carter and Thomas.
The meeting of the Planning and Zoning Board was called to order by
Mr. Bowness at 7 :50 P. M.
1. Herb Ross and his attorney, mr. Shaw came before the board
requesting a formal abandonment of city platted streets in
Sleepy Harbor that were shown on an old plat but were never
in use. The streets involved in the abandonment are as
follows:
1. West 30 feet of California Avenue lying North of
White Road and South of Oak Street.
2. That portion of Oak Street lying in the North
30 feet of Northeast i of Northwest i of Section
20, Township 225, Range 28 East and North 30
feet of the Northeast a of Section 20, Township
225, Range 28 East running to California Avenue.
3. All of Polk Street lying between Chicago Avenue
and California Avenue.
4. All of Chicago Avenue lying between Oak Street
and White Road.
After much discussion, Mr. Turner made a motion to table the
subject until a work session could be held. Motion died for
lack of a second.
Mayor Vandergrift was present and he relayed to the Zoning
Board and Mr. Ross that he would draw up a letter of agreement
to be sent to the City Attorney concerning the abandonment
of said streets.
Mr. Turner made a motion to table the matter until the board
hears from the action of the City Attorney. Mr. mcRobert
seconded the motion. motion carried. No nays.
2. (ir. Bill Coggin appeared before the board requesting that the
15' alleyway behind the Church of Christ located on Bluford
Avenue be abandoned to prevent the vandalism which has been
occurring.
Following a brief discussion, Mr. Turner made a motion that
the board deny the abandoning of the alleyway because the
drug store next to the church needs the alley for trucking
purposes. Mr. mcRobert seconded the motion to recommend the
denial to the Council. (lotion carried unanimously.
3. Carl Julian, representative of Julco Corporation came before
the board requesting the use of I -1 zoning for a C -3 classi-
fication as stated in Chapter II; Section 3.6, page 65 of
Zoning Regulations Book.
Mr. Julian indicated that the purpose of his request was to
be able to use the area for a mechanical garage for working
on trucks.
rnr. Turner made the motion to permit C -3 usage on review.
.•1r. Brooklyn seconded the motion for recommendation to the
Council. motion carried. No nays.
Mr. Turner made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Lait.
Being no further business, meeting adjourned at 10:00 P. M.
