F Subject: Most Valuable Partnership Grant — Cycle 2011 - Background Summary: The Most Valuable Partnership Grants Program has been in operation for several years. The grant program assists Ocoee neighborhoods and organizations with projects that will enhance property values and improve the quality of life in Ocoee. The MVP grant program is a matching grant program held once each year. The maximum matching grant award is $2,000. Funding is not given up front, but is reimbursed at the completion of the organization's project. Applicants fund their improvement projects and then get a portion back, up to a maximum of $2,000. Eight applications were received for this year's cycle. The total amount of grant monies requested from qualified applicants is $12,392. There is $10,000 funded for this year's MVP grant program. The following is the 8 applicants: Admiral Pointe HOA; Christian Service Center; Lake Olympia Club HOA; Rotary Club of Ocoee; Silver Glen HOA; Sleepy Harbor HOA and Woman's Club of Ocoee. Seven organizations were recommended to receive grants in the amount of $10,000. One organization, Silver Glen HOA, was disqualified because their grant application was incomplete. Issue: Should the Mayor and Commissioners approve the funding recommendations made by staff? Recommendations Staff respectfully requests that the Mayor and City Commission approve staff's recommendations for funding $10,000. Admiral Pointe HOA Beautify retention pond area and Keaton Parkway for better community landscape Amount requested: $1,729 Staff recommendation: $1,770 2. Christian Service Center Building improvements, replace awnings, paint entrance and hallways, replace ceiling tiles, yard maintenance Amount requested: $2,000 Staff recommendation: $1,770 3. Lake Olympia Club HOA Repair broken sprinkler line under the street (Olympus and Hawthorne Drives), install timer, relay switch for main sprinkler control panel, entrance beautification Amount requested: $1,950 Staff recommendation: $1,725 4. Rotary Club of Ocoee Give graduating seniors at Ocoee High School scholarship monies to help offset their college expenses Amount requested: $1,500 Staff recommendation: $1,500 5. Sleepy Harbour HOA Entrance beautification, replace post lights on entrance wall, replace broken entrance letters, paint Amount requested: $1,213 Staff recommendation: $600 6. Woman's Club of Ocoee Scholarships for women who are Ocoee residents that are re- entering the workforce through Westside Technical School Amount requested: $2,000 Staff recommendation: $1,770 7.
