PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
REGULAR MEETING HELD ON March 19, 2012
CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Heard called the meeting to order at 6:09 pm. in the meeting room
at the Parks & Recreation Administrative Office, 125 North Lakeshore Drive,
Ocoee, FL 34761. The roll was called and no quorum was declared at that time.
PRESENT: Chairman Heard, Members Barber, Gleason, McKey, Parks and
Recreation Director Jeff Hayes, Ex- Officio Member Rosemary Wilsen and Sr.
Administrative Assistant Dottie Godek.
ABSENT: Vice -Chair Baxter (excused), Member Applegate (excused),
Member Epps (excused), Member Rainer (excused) and Member Watring
(unexcused).
GUESTS: None
DISCUSSION:
Parks & Recreation Director Hayes said that he believed that there were two
options, to not have a meeting or to have a general discussion. In regard to the
planned parks system presentation, it was decided that it should be shown at
the next meeting as the whole board wanted to see it. Parks & Recreation
Director Hayes also said that there were no action items that needed
attention.
Member McKey brought up the Withers- Maguire house and Parks &
Recreation Director Hayes stated that he'd like to hold off on that item as
there were some new developments.
Chairman Heard mentioned the Easter Eggstravaganza to be held on April 7,
2012, and the coloring contest judging to be held at the Jim Beech Center on
April 6 at 5:00 PM. All Parks & Recreation Board members are invited to come
and help judge the pictures.
Chairman Heard also mentioned the security camera issue and Parks &
Recreation Director Hayes said that there was really no update. The cameras
that were being looked at were in the $6,000.00 to $10,000.00 range per
camera; there were other types of cameras that could be used in different
settings on buildings that might be less expensive but that he hadn't received
any further information from I.T. on them.

Chairman Heard asked if the Old Bulldog /Little League sign that was on Silver
Star Road will be replaced. Parks & Recreation Director Hayes said that a
sign had been placed at Orange Avenue that said Bulldogs and Little League
Field with an arrow for eastbound traffic on Silver Star Road and then another
sign at the top of the hill. Parks & Recreation Director Hayes said he had
requested a sign for westbound traffic as well but he didn't believe that one had
been put up yet.
Chairman Heard suggested to just move the current agenda items to the next
meeting agenda.
Parks & Recreation Director Hayes said that meeting reminders will be sent
out for the next meeting on May 21, 2012, asking that everyone respond as to
whether they will be able to attend.
Ex- Officio Member Rosemary Wilsen thanked everyone that helped with
Spring Fling and added a special thank you to the Parks & Recreation
Department for a great job.
