Background Summary:
The City has been working with Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance on an improved landscape solution
for the Maguire Road corridor south of the Turnpike with a focus on low maintenance plantings that have
a history of thriving in a roadway median environment with minimal watering. The proposed
improvements begin with the removal of existing plants that have out grown the confines of the medians
or have reached the end of their life cycle. The existing irrigation will be modified and new plants and
ornamental trees installed.
Public Works recommends awarding this work to Valley Crest, the City's landscape maintenance
contractor, as they will be providing the Society Garlic plants at no charge to the City as a warranty
replacement for the former perennial peanut beds at the median tips. Public Works has reviewed the
pricing and found it to be in line with industry standards.
Public Works will provide the maintenance of traffic control through the work zones for this project to
reduce the costs to the City. Public Works recommends awarding this work to Valley Crest.

Request the City Commission award the Maguire Road landscape improvements to Valley Crest.
Recommendations
Recommend the City Commission award the Maguire Road landscape improvements per the attached
proposal, to Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance - Orlando in the amount of $46,168.00.

Thank you, for the opportunity to present you with a proposal for landscape enitancentent for the above
referenced project. We hereby propose to fiurnish in the utmost professional manner, all necessary
materials, labor and equipment to perform the following work, as per the aerial photo plan & instructions
provided by Richard Campanale City of Ocoee Public Works Department.
*All Items noted throughout this proposal includes the following scope of work;
• Removal of plants and sod not to remain.
• Includes any necessary irrigation repair & retrofitting for areas noted on plans.
• Installation of materials (i.e. plants, mulch, etc.) listed below.
• A post planting fertilizer application for all new plantings.
• Includes mobilization cost, delivery & disposal fees.

Special Conditions & Exclusions
The following items noted below are provided by ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance, for the sole purpose of
providing our customer with concise and definitive guidelines in regards to the proposed scope of work described
in the aforementioned proposal for this project.
❑ ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance is not responsible for the civil engineering of the site.
❑ Irrigation repair and retrofitting will be performed in areas of new work as described in the
aerial photo plans & instructions provided by Richard Campanale, City of Ocoee.
❑ Owner will be responsible for locating all private utilities, of which may need to he relocated,
prior to digging. ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance will not be responsible for any damage
to private utilities.
❑ ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance will be responsible for all public underground Utility
locates, prior to digging.
❑ The prices stated are valid for (90) days from the date of the proposal and are subject to
change after (90) days.
❑ City of Ocoee will provide all MOT for this project, and all work is to be performed between
the hours of 9:00am to 4 :OOpm, Monday through Thursday.
❑ City of Ocoee will allow ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance to stage Roll Off Dumpsters on
the Maguire Rd. City of Ocoee Water Treatment Facility property.

Also, I want to remind you that we will be replacing the perennial peanut
bed areas with Society Garlic (1 Gallon on 2 feet centers), during the same
time as the other work. This work will be warranty replacement at no charge
to the city.
