Subject: Reappointment to the Planning and Zoning Commission
Background Summary:
On February 9, 1999, Ordinance No. 99 -09, was adopted requiring nine (9) members that must be City residents
for the Planning and Zoning Commission. Members of the Planning and Zoning Commission serve three -year
terms. Currently, the Planning and Zoning Commission consists of nine (9) members. There will be one (1)
vacancy as of February 2013.
The three -year terms of Members Angel de la Portilla and Frank Morris will end February 2013. Member Angel de
la Portilla has indicated he is willing to serve another three -year term, if reappointed. From 2010 -2012, Member
Angel de la Portilla has attended 11 of 18 meetings.
Member Frank Morris (District 1) has indicated he no longer wishes to serve on the Planning and Zoning
Commission, therefore, leaving one (1) vacancy. There are no applications on file for this board.
Issue:
Should Member Angel de la Portilla be reappointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission to serve another
three -year term ending February 2016?
Recommendations
Staff recommends that the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners reappoint Member Angel de la Portilla to
serve another three -year term on the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Although it has been a pleasure to serve on this board i have decided not to be re- appointed due to family and time constraint issues.
I would like to thank all of the members of this board for their service and the city commission for the appointment but especially to
