Background Summary:
Per Florida Statute 274, Public Works is requesting Sanitation truck 745 be declared surplus so that the
City can properly dispose of it. The Sanitation Division budget included the purchase of one (1) new side
load collection truck and the subsequent sale of one (1) existing side load truck. Sanitation truck 745
was purchased new in 2006 and has been fully depreciated.
Last year, Public Works solicited bids for the sale of surplus trucks through the normal bidding process,
yet received no purchase offers. Public Works then sought out potential vendors outside of our State
network. Following several site inspections from truck vending firms, only Truck Component Services
out of Missouri provided the City with a letter of interest.
Public Works has again sought out vendors interested in purchasing Sanitation truck 745, with the only
offer coming again from Truck Component Services in the amount of $43,500.00. Truck Component
Services specializes in reconditioning used sanitation equipment for resale.
The Sanitation Division budget projected $40,000.00 revenue from the sale of the one (1) surplus side
load truck. Public Works recommends Commission approval of the offer from Truck Component
Services in order to ensure the anticipated revenue is realized within the current fiscal year.
Issue:
Request the City Commission to declare one sanitation truck surplus and approve the sale of the surplus
truck.
Recommendations
Recommend the City Commission declare Sanitation truck 745 (asset number VEH0308) surplus per
Florida Statute 274, and approve the sale of said truck for $43,500.00 per the attached offer from Truck
Component Services of Stafford, Missouri.

automated side loader vin # 1 M2AC07C67M013216 for a total of $43,500.00 FOB Ocoee, FL.
Upon approval of the City of Ocoee and copies of the front and back of each title, TCS will wire the
money for the unit.
