08-14-14 Minutes MINUTES OF THE CITIZEN ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR THE OCOEE FIRE DEPARTMENT MEETING HELD AUGUST 14, 2014 CALL TO ORDER Member Vaughn conducted the meeting and called the meeting to order at 7:12pm in the Station 25 Training Room located at 563 South Bluford Avenue. Recording Secretary Hall called roll and declared a quorum was present. PRESENT. Members: Chairman Vaughn, Titus, Channell, Richardson and Acting Deputy Chief Smothers Member Lawrie arrived at 7:35 and Member Carbone arrived at 7:52 ABSENT: Commissioner Johnson, Member Hodge, and Acting Chief Hoover. GUEST (S) Lt. Kelley and Battalion Chief Whitaker Approval of Minutes: May 8, 2014 minutes were approved. Motion by Richardson seconded by Titus carried 4 -0 Old Business: - Discussion of the open house and how well everything went. Member Titus thanked Lt. Kelley for cooking the hot dogs for them. Chairman Vaughn also wanted to notice that Commissioner Wilsen did attend the open house. New Business - Chairman Vaughn discussed the open house some more about inviting the Mayor and Commissioners. Member Richardson asked who would be cooking and was told the union and James Kelley would be cooking hot dogs. Chairman Vaughn discussed having a tent at the Founders Day event and if they want to hand stuff out. It was decided to participate on November 8, 2014. Motion by Channell seconded by Titus carried 4 -0 Chairman Vaughn discussed the open house at Station 26 to be held on October 25, 2014 from 10 -2. Member Vaughn discussed that we should have enough hot dogs and popcorn and that all we would need to purchase is hot dog buns. Chairman Vaughn asked Lt. Kelley if the union would be willing to cook again and Lt. Kelley said absolutely. Motion by Titus seconded by Chanell carried 4 -0 Chairman Vaughn asked if Member Channell and Member Lawrie were interested in a reappointment of their seats on the board and they both agreed to the reappointment. Member Lawrie arrived at 7:35. Minutes of Citizen Advisory Council for Ocoee Fire Department August 14, 2014 Member Carbone arrived at 7:52. Other — Member Titus would be willing to sell raffle tickets for the helmet for a memorial at the Founders Day event. Lt. Kelley also talked about the Orange County Presentation with the members. Member Titus said she had a petition with about 2000 signatures for the city not to let the Fire Department go to the County. SET NEXT AGENDA: Date will be November 13, 2014 at 7:OOpm A.
