Crown 6749 Lumberjack Lane Ocoee, FL 34761 407.342.6257 15 July 2015 Dear Madam or Sir, I would like to submit this letter as additional documentation in order to be considered for a seat on the Human Relations Diversity Board for the City of Ocoee. I moved to Ocoee from New York just over four years ago and have fallen in love with this area. Due to this, I would like to become more involved in the community where I have chosen to live. My background regarding my request to be considered for this board is as follows. I was the owner of an antique restoration company and very active in community service for many years prior to moving into the field of education. I was a science teacher for seven years, an assistant principal for three, and a middle school principal for two before accepting a position as a teacher trainer for a national company that flew me around the United States teaching teachers how to teach reading, writing, and math to elementary students. I was a member of an award winning team that oversaw and facilitated the summer school program in Detroit. After two and one half years of spending more time in airports and hotels than at home, I decided to move to Florida and once again become a school based administrator. I have worked for Orange County Public Schools for four years now and enjoy each day immensely. I hold five college degrees culminating in a doctorate in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Ethics. I have had numerous years of professional development training relating to human relations, diversity, cooperation, facilitative leadership, mediation, and socioeconomic status variances. The plethora of experiences and trainings that I have been fortunate to have experienced has allowed me the opportunity to work with extremely diverse groups of people successfully and without hesitation. I feel that I would be able to bring an additional perspective to the board due to these experiences. Thank you in advance for any consideration you may grant me towards a seat on the Human Relations Diversity Board. Kindest regards, Kathleen M. Crown, Ed.D.
