Background Summary: As discussed at the October 6, 2015 Executive Session, an employee in the Police Department has a worker's compensation claim against the City. The City has agreed to pay the employee's attorney fee plus cost. Issue: By paying the Attorney fee plus cost, the City can move forward with settlement of the employee's claim. This will minimize and contain future costs to the City. Due to the medical and confidentiality issues involved, associated documents of the settlement are not included with this item. Recommendations: Staff respectfully recommends the Commission approve the payment of the Attorney fee and costs. Attachments: None Financial Impact: Settlement of employee's Attorney fee of $45,000 plus costs not to exceed $5,000.00 from the City's worker's compensation account.
