11-08-1989 Canvassing Board Minutes \.... MINUTES OF THE CITY OF OCOEE CANVASSING BOARD HELD NOVEMBER 8~2, 1989 The City of Ocoee Canvassing Board was called to order at 12:09 p.m. in the conference room at city hall by Mayor Ison, who then led in prayer. PRESENT: Mayor Ison, Commissioners Combs and Hager, City Clerk Grafton City Clerk Grafton advised that there were 31 absentee ballots returned of the 41 requested and that the signatures had been verified by the Supervisor of Elections office. One of the ballots was void because the voter died before November 7, leaving 30 valid votes to be counted. The envelopes containing the absentee ballots were counted by Mayor Ison and Commissioner Hager and found to be in order. Upon opening the envelopes, the ballots were separated from the envelopes and stirred to ensure that the voter's right to secret ballot would not be violated. Foster 79 252 331 13 344 Darlene Rhodus 210 260 470 8 478 Don Tyndall 144 165 309 8 317 Mayor Ison announced that Lester Dabbs is the new Mayor and that there will be a run off election for Commission Seat #4 between John Linebarier and Sam Woodson, and for Commission Seat #2 between Paul Foster and Darlene Rhodus. The run off election will be held November 21, 1989 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the regular polling places. Mayor Ison administered the oath of office to Mayor Dabbs as Mrs. Dabbs held their Bible. Mayor Dabbs spoke briefly, accepting the responsibilities of his new office and pledging his best efforts.
