PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
REGULAR MEETING HELD ON February 15, 2016
CALL TO ORDER •
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 PM in the Community Center, 125 N.Lakeshore Drive, Ocoee,FL 34761.
The roll was called and a quorum was declared at that lime.
PRESENT: Chairman Rainer,Members McKey, Singrey and Applegate, Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Hayes
(Director Hayes),Ex-Officio Member Commissioner Rosemary Wilsen and Sr.Administrative Assistant Dottie
Godek.
ABSENT: Members Barber and Maranan(absent excused), and Vice Chair Graham(absent unexcused)
GUESTS: No Guests
A: Approval of Minutes
Senior Admin.Assistant Godek reported that there were no minutes from the November meeting as a malfunction
of Director Hayes computer erased them..
B. Disc Golf
Director Hsyes met with the Disc Golf Group,John Stewart and another person, at Prairie Lake Park The group is
proposing a disc golf course however at present the city does not have funds in the budget, Director Hayes
provided a presentation showing the proposed location and the setup within the park. The board had a
discussion regarding the proposed site and the potential use.
C. Spring Fling Information
Spring Fling will be held 3/12/15 from 10:00 until 3:00 PM.There was a question as to whether the materials for
the potential plant cutting project were to have been donated.With no dear answer,the board tabled the project
idea until the next meeting.The board also requested Director Hayes to find out the feasibility of doing the plant
cutting project with the children in the Summer Camp program.
There was a general discussion of other projects that could be done but Ex-Officio Member Commissioner
Rosemary Wilsen wondered if there would be enough volunteers to man a booth for 5 hours. Member McKey
made a motion to hand out the Eggstravagan7a coloring sheets at Spring Fling. The motion died for lackof a
second.
D. Holiday Tree Lighting Event
Director Hayes said there was an excellent turnout of approximately 1200-1300 people and gave a power point
presentation from the event.
E. Arbor Day Plant a Tree at the Ison Center
The tree planting will be at noon with lunch at 12:30 on April
P �' 21, 2016.
F. Recap of New Fee Structure
Director Hayes stated he would be meeting with the City Manager to go over the fees. The proposed fees will
then go before the City Commission.

G. Other Business
Member Applegate suggested having`Breakfast with Mrs. Claus" on the day of the Ocoee Parade. The board had
a discussion regarding the feasibility of an event like this and requested it be put on the next agenda and brought
back with more ideas.

A. Approval of minutes of the February 16, 2016 meeting

C. More Information for Spring Fling:Director Hayes to advise possibility of doing program with Summer
Campers
D. Gingerbread contest at the Tree Lighting event

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm. With Member McKey leaving prior to adjournment.
