the Fire Department's new engine.
Background Summary:
The FY 2016/2017 budget provided $5,015.00 for the purchase of Long Telescoping Ram Core for vehicle
extrications. With the purchase of our new Engine, we are in need of the cutter portion of the unit and not the
ram core for the new fire engine. The Fire Department would like to purchase the cutter core from South Florida
Emergency Vehicles (SFEV). SFEV is a sole distributer for this brand. The attached quote totals $6,137.00,
which is over the budget set for the ram core by $1,122.00.
Issue:
The Fire Department would like to change the capital item to the Cutter Core and use $1,122.00 from account#
001-522-00-6400 to cover the overage. There is a savings from the purchase of radios that staff would like to
use for this purchase.
Recommendations:
Staff recommends authorization of changing the Telescoping Ram Core to the purchase of Cutter Core for the
new fire engine and use $1,122.00 from account # 001-522-00-6400 to cover the overage. There is a savings
from the purchase of radios that staff would like to use for this purchase.
