Background Summary:
The Ocoee Fire Department has been using Lifepak Monitors for the last 10 years without any complaints or
problems. The Ocoee Fire Department is seeking the approval of the commission to move forward in the
acquisition of (2) two new Lifepak 15 Monitors and (4) 3G modems which will allow the fire department to
activate more advanced life support units. The modems are required equipment in order to place the Lifepaks in
service since they allow units to transmit critical cardiac data directly to the hospital prior to patient arrival. This
equipment is required to operate as Advanced Life Support.
Issue:
The Lifepak Monitors currently in use for the Ocoee Fire Department are over 10 years old and are quickly
approaching the end of their life cycle. The (2) two new Lifepak Monitors will be utilized by the busier units while
the old units will be utilized for reserve units and special event (Football games, Founders Day, etc) without
putting a strain on the frontline emergency units.
Recommendations
Staff recommends approval to purchase the (2) two Lifepak 15 Monitors and (4) four 3G Modems for a total of
$67,666.64. The budgeted amount was $77,155.00 in account 001-522-00-6400.

Financial Impact:
The initial financial impact for the purchase of the Lifepaks and 3G modems will be $67,666.64 from
the FY 2017-18 budget. The budgeted amount was $77,155.00 the savings will be $9,488.36. The
future financial impact will include maintenance service contracts for the Lifepak Monitors and data
plans for the modems. The future impact will be accounted for during the annual budget process.
