VI (C) Discussion on participation in National League of Cities Annual Congressional Conference in Washington AGENDA 1-17-95 "CENTER OF GOOD LIVING-PRIDE OF WEST ORANGE" Item VI C Ocoee I vrinaltKUR11,I o COMMISSIONERS 6? :• _ ;; RUSTY JOHNSON a CITY OF OCOEE PAUL W.FOSTER vO 150 N.LAKESHORE DRIVE SCOTT A.GLASS l'. OCOEE,FLORIDA 34761-2258 JIM GLEASON 'y (407)656-2322 CITY MANAGER Of GOP ELLIS SHAPIRO MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and Board of City Commissioners FROM: Ellis Shapiro, City Manager DATE: January 12, 1995 RE: PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES'ANNUAL CONGRESSIONAL CONFERENCE Several weeks ago the National League of Cities sent a bulletin regarding their yearly congressional conference in March for 5 days in Washington, D.C. Because of the drastic change in the congressional make-up, there are going to be many programs started or cut out that will affect all cities in the United States dramatically in the next 4 years. To this end, several Commissioners have discussed with me the feasibility or possibility of attending this conference in March to be more aware of planning for our city's future by knowing first hand what's going to happen in Washington for the next several years. If you include the registration fee, travel, and cost for the hotel, this type of conference would cost approximately $2,000.00 per person. I am bringing this to your attention to determine whether there is any interest from any of you to attend this conference in March since registration ends in the next few weeks. Since the Florida League conferences are in Orlando, there are no major travel expenditures anticipated in this fiscal year's budget. I await your direction. Respectfully Submitted, ES3:fdg:10 Attachment Stronger4 2 C..
