WHEREAS, The City of Ocoee is blessed with a multitude of families — an essential part
of the cultural, social and spiritual fabric of our community; and
WHEREAS, The City of Ocoee Commissioners recognize that strong families are at the
center of communities, that children live better lives when their families are
strong, and that families are strong when they live in communities that
connect them to economic opportunities, social networks, and services; and
WHEREAS, The theme for this year's Week of the Family is A Team Effort! Just like
individual players on a team, family members have their own unique skills,
personalities and positions; and
WHEREAS, Strong families and teams both work together toward a common goal as you
cannot play team sports successfully as an individual. We need our families
to help us through good times and bad; and
WHEREAS, Just as teams learn from practices and games, families learn as they help
each other through life and give opportunities to learn and grow; and
WHEREAS, During the week of November 4th through November 11th 2017, City of
Ocoee residents should take the time to honor the importance of families and
recommit to enhancing and extending the special connections that support
and strengthen them.

November 4-11, 2017, as
Week of the Family
in Ocoee, and urge all citizens to share in the many festivities prepared for this occasion.
