Background Summary:
Members of the Citizen Advisory Council for Ocoee Fire Department serve three-year terms. The
Resolution creating the Board allows no more than fifteen (15) members. The Board currently has five
(5) members. One application has been received to serve on the Board from Penny Christian.
Issue:
Should the Honorable Mayor and City Commissioners appoint Penny Christian to the Citizen Advisory
Council for Ocoee Fire Department (CACOFD)?
Recommendations:
One application has been recently submitted for appointment to the Citizen Advisory Council for
Ocoee Fire Department (CACOFD); therefore, staff recommends the City Commission consider
appointing Penny Christian to the Citizen Advisory Council for Ocoee Fire Department with a term
ending November 2021.

Please describe your qualifications for each board indicated above I am Currently sitting on the Citizen's
Advisory Council for Ocoee Police Department. While sitting on the board I began participating in the Citizens
Safety Academy. Upon meeting the firefighters and researching their involvement in the community I quickly
realized how actively involved they have been within our community. As an individual I pursued several
degrees, such as a bachelor's in psychology, certification in behavioral forensics followed by a master's in
criminal justice. I pursued such degrees because I am passionate about public safety in a myriad of ways. As a
citizen of Ocoee that is active in improving our Central Florida Community and local community I would love
the opportunity to be a part of yet another important board in Ocoee.
