PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
REGULAR MEETING HELD ON November 13, 2017
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. in the Lakeshore Center, 125 N. Lakeshore
Drive, Ocoee, FL 34761. The roll was called and a quorum was declared at that time.
PRESENT: Chairman Rainer, Vice-Chairman Graham, Members Applegate, Barber,
McKey, and Koontz, Also present were Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Hayes
(Director Hayes), Ex-Officio Member Commissioner Rosemary Wilsen and Senior
Administrative Assistant Dottie Godek.
ABSENT: Member Maranan
INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS AND VISITORS: None
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Member McKey seconded by Member Applegate made a motion to accept the minutes
of the September 20, 2017 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
B. SPRING FLING
Ex-Officio Member Commissioner Rosemary Wilsen reported that Spring Fling will be
held at Bill Breeze Park but without the Lakeshore Center which will be under
construction. March 10th 2018 is the date. She said that it was up to the board if they
wanted to do something - Member Maranan reported at the last meeting that he was
going to look into handing out seedlings.
C. LIGHT UP OCOEE
Chairman Rainer asked if everyone was going to be able to participate on either Monday
12/11/17 or Wednesday 12/13/17. The Board will be meeting at 6:00 PM at the Jim
Beech Center.
D. CITY TREE LIGHTING EVENT December 2nd 2017
The board went over the schedule for the craft table shifts and the setup of the tables.
They decided to close the table at 6:00 PM so that everyone can see the tree lighting.
E. OTHER BUSINESS
Chairman Rainer said that since the next scheduled meeting would be on Monday
January 15th but since that was Martin Luther King Day the board may wish to reschedule.
The consensus was that the meeting will be moved to January 22nd 2018.

Member Koontz asked if the West Orange Senior group would possibly have another
member to serve on the Parks and Recreation Board. Director Hayes said he would
have a conversation with the acting president of the Seniors.
Member Barber asked what the disposition of the remaining Parks and Recreation
Advisory Board budget was; it was reported that the signs for the 2017 Light Up Ocoee
were purchased.
Member Applegate mentioned that he had a request from Mr. & Mrs. Claus regarding
the Tree Lighting Event: they requested reserved parking and possibly having the
carriage take them from the parking area to the Withers-Maguire House. Director Hayes
said that he would look into the possibility of that happening.
