Background Summary:
On March 1, 2005, City Commission requested staff to evaluate and prepare a cost estimate for paving (with brick trim)
the City-owed lot on the northeast comer of Bluford Avenue and McKey Street. Staff evaluated the site and due to its
potential high value, recommends against developing this site for parking. A more attractive location for parking will
be the vacant City-owned lots on East McKey Street after demolition of the structures. The future parking area on
McKey Street may also include the grass area south of the Women's Club.
Issue:
Paving of the lot at northeast comer of Bluford Avenue and McKey Street.
Recommendations
Staff does not recommend paving of this site. Instead, staff recommends developing the parking areas on East McKey
Street after demolishing the structures.

Financial Impact:
The cost of developing the parking areas will be $30,000 with the combination of in-house and out-sourced
construction. It should be noted that General Fund Contingency is very low at this time ($118,000 through March 1,
2005) with the storm and hwricane season still to come.
